Grasslands of B.C., as elsewhere in the world are under siege by an expanding and increasingly urbanized human society. Weeds, urban sprawl, intensive agriculture, forest expansion, and other forces are dramatically decreasing the area of native grassland. Protected areas, combined with ecologically sound and sustainable grassland management are required in order to conserve the many species, habitats, and communities that depend on B.C.'s grasslands.
